sky full of lighters

I love Bruno Mars, I love his sound, I love his style.

I identify with his struggles as an artist, he shares some in an interview with EntertainmentWeekly.com in his response to why he first sidelined his solo plans;

Out of frustration, I decided that I’m going to do everything on my own. When I met Phillip, I was like, “This artist s— ain’t working.” We had the opportunity to sell a song that I wanted for myself. At first I was like, “No way! This is my work. This is my art!” And then they said, “We’ll give you $20,000.” I was like, “Here. You can have it.” [Laughs] I learned the hard way that in this business, you have to do everything yourself. It’s not like in the movies where you sign a record contract and then you’re rubbing shoulders with Timbaland and Pharrell

Not that anyone is offering me $20k but it's nice to know that people as talented as Bruno Mars have struggles too.

Lighters, a Eminiem and Royce Da 5'9" hit features Bruno's (aka Peter Gene Hernandez) smooth, steady voice singing the chorus which sort of hits on the topic of struggles, taking a chance, reaching for our dreams and wanting success...

You and I know what it's like to be kicked down
Forced to fight
But tonight we’re alright
So hold up your light
Let it shine

Cuz this one's for you and me
Living out our dreams
We're all right where we should be
Lift my arms out wide
I open my eyes
And now all I
wannna see
Is a sky full of lighters, a sky full of lighters

I just love this song.  Of course when I really listened to the lyrics they are crude at best but the chorus is so pretty as is the end of the video it's worth a watch...

feeling inspired...

If you love Bruno too listen to this great NPR interview with the handsome Mr. Mars.
