a little nervous

So today is the day Jeremy and I put ourselves to the test. Today we hike the Kalalau Trail, one of the most beautiful and difficult amateur hikes in the world.

We leave at 5am Kauai time to drive as far north as you can travel by road to the trail head at Ke'e Beach to begin the 11 mile hike to Kalalau Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, accessible only via the Kalalau Trail (it is illegal to bring a boat to shore there). Kalalau Beach is also our campsite where we will enjoy a delicious dehydrated meal and some much needed rest.  Then we get up the next morning and hike the 11 miles back to Ke'e- cake, right?

Easier said than done. So I am asking that you to say a prayer for us; that we can make it the whole way there and the whole way back and in one piece.  Seriously, we need the prayers- seriously.

I have no idea how much my pack weighs but it's a lot..

All of that is going in our packs plus water (which is really the bulk of the weight) and my clothes not pictured above.

Ahhhhhh!!!  I am nervous.  I'll let you know how it goes on Monday.  Have a great weekend.:)

If you'd like to learn more about the Kalalau Trail hike read this article from Wild Backpaker, it gives a nice overview.
