ms. westwood

I absolutely love Vivienne Westwood's designs, they are a mix of classic and crazy.  The latest piece I am coveting is this beautiful classic melton wool coat.

Now if only I had an extra $1,000 laying around... well I probably wouldn't spend it on this, I am way too practical but that's beside the point.  Love Vivienne West wood designs, here are a few fun pieces from her lastest collections...

Just the name Vivienne Westwood brings to mind a glamorous, old school, Hollywood actress with classic beauty- Ms. Westwood is not exactly that, but she has always been influenced by classic and vintage looks of all sorts along with anything anti-establishment, punk, or outrageous.

I started reading in to Vivienne Westwood's past and found it interesting that she studied fashion and silversmithing at the Harlow School Of Art but she left after one term saying, "I didn't know how a working-class girl like me could possibly make a living in the art world".  I know the feeling...

With a serious interest in the punk rock fashion of the 1970's, probably spurred on by her relationship with then Sex Pistols manager Malcom McLaren, Vivienne went on to open her first boutique called Let It Rock.  The boutique changed names several times from SEX, Too Fast To Live,Too Young To Die, Seditionaries and finally, World's End as Vivienne's style evolved to more wearable fashion.

If you are not up on the fashion scene but wondering where you know this Vivienne Westwood's name it's probably because you have seen the Sex in The City Movie.

The gorgeous wedding dress Carrie Bradshaw wears is a Vivienne Westwood creation.

Vivienne does have a flair for the dramatic and that is what makes her so wonderful.

Although I have to say coming from some what of  jewelry design background her jewelry collection is sort of a Juicy Couture meets Betsy Johnson, made in China, junk collection.  What do you think?

(It's cool if you like it, I won't hold it against you, I like some ugly things too.;))

Ahh, but her clothes, genius, classic and yet still with an edge, a hint of punk via zippers and safety pins.

2005

Love it.

Vivienne also writes a blog, Get A Life, check it out for more incite into the eccentric designer.
